Biography

EtminanDr. Mohammad Etminan graduated Valedictorian from Second Baptist High School in Houston, Texas, where he grew up. He then went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from Georgetown University, and then attended Baylor College of Medicine where he was first in his graduating class and graduated with highest honors. Dr. Etminan completed his orthopedic surgery residency at one of the most sought-after training programs in the country the University of California in Los Angeles. He then received further training at the Hospital for Special Surgery Spine in their fellowship program. The Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) ranked No. 1 for orthopedics for nine consecutive years by U.S. News & World Report (2018-2019). HSS has also been among the top-ranked hospitals for both orthopedics and rheumatology for 27 consecutive years (as of 2019).

This strong research background has enabled Dr. Etminan to continue to evolve his practice and be one of the first surgeons to incorporate the use of lateral interbody fusion into his own practice in 2005. Once approved by the FDA, Dr. Etminan was the first surgeon in Houston to implant the Medtronic cervical total disc replacement. This is why Dr. Etminan has been in the forefront of minimally invasive spine surgery, adopting novel surgical fusion techniques that incorporate the best of both traditional open techniques and minimally invasive operations. These techniques have resulted in less intra-operative blood loss, less operative time, lower infection rate, less postoperative pain, and quicker recovery.

You’ll also find Dr. Etminan is at the forefront in his industry, of using stem cell for the treatment of chronic discogenic back pain. His experience with stem cell research dates back to 2009, where over the years he has been able to observe dramatic long-term improvements in patients with discogenic pain through the use of stem cells.

Dr. Etminan is board certified in orthopedic surgery and has been practicing since 2001. He has been a part of Richmond Bone and Joint Clinic since 2003, and he was a part of the University of Texas from 2014 until he opened Complete Spine Center in February of 2019.

Dr. Etminan opened Complete Spine Center in hopes of achieving better patient outcomes and patient satisfaction in a private practice setting.
